Hello all. I am Alex DeMolles and I am from Jamestown, Rhode Island. I grew up on the island and on, or near the water as much as possible. My first real job as a kid was working at a marina, basically holding every position there over the years. I swore i’d never own a boat after working on them and seeing the headaches associated with them. Needless to say, I broke my promise and have been a boat owner the last 10 years or so and can’t imagine life without it. I can be found almost daily on the water as I keep her in the water on a mooring and always in pursuit if fish, lobster or just a nice sunny day. I thought I had a pretty good working knowledge of nav rules, etc. but there is a steep learning curve from the casual recreational guy/gal and a professional. I am enjoying the steep learning curve and excited to learn the material. I am have been a police officer for almost the last 15 years and maybe thinking about an exit strategy, possibly involving some sort of job professionally on the water. I am excited about the course and look forward to getting the most out of it.
