Expedition Boat Drivers and Guides

We are currently looking to hire experienced Expedition Boat Drivers and Guides for our 2022 Alaska season, which will run from early May until August 24, 2022. As a Zodiac Driver you’ll be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities :
Prepare, launch, take command of, and recover the expedition Zodiac boats
Convey passengers from ship to shore, and back by Zodiac
Convey passengers on sightseeing cruises by Zodiac
During boat operations, follow regulations and industry standard best practice for wildlife watching.
Provide guiding, interpretation of the surroundings and commentary to the guests, on the zodiac, on shore and on board the ship.
On board, reporting to the expedition leader, carry out guest relation duties such as handing out and receiving equipment, answering questions and making bookings
relating to shore excursions, maintaining expedition equipment, taking part in wildlife watches and other expedition duties
On shore, when not driving Zodiacs, act a boat catcher, guide, lead walks and accompany excursions.
If you are able to give talks to the guests of up to 35 minutes about the wildlife, landscape or history, that would be an advantage.

We are looking for skippers for our 12-guest capacity expedition Zodiac boats who can be guides as part of the expedition team onboard MS Roald Amundsen, the world’s first hybrid powered expedition ship.

Essential Qualifications :
Candidates must be qualified to take command of a vessel transporting 12 fee-paying guests in US waters.
US Citizenship and a valid passport
US Masters 50- or 100-ton near-coastal license
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Covid Vaccinations mandatory

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in expedition cruising
Guest focused with experience in the tourism and/or customer service industry
Strong knowledge of marine wildlife, local geography, history and/or indigenous culture a strong asset
