Welcome to the Rules of the Road.

This portion of the online course includes information you will see in the RULES OF THE ROAD examination module.

This is the biggest module of the course and contains some of the most important aspects of any Captain's knowledge. This course module is designed to introduce you to all 38 Rules of the Road.

Below you will find a lesson for each of the 38 Rules. Each lesson contains one video lecture and these slides are also available as a PDF reference document under the “Materials” tab. Watch and read them all. When you complete watching a video, choose "Mark as Complete," this will move you on to the next video lecture.

There are three quizzes at the end of the module and you can only proceed with a passing grade of 90%, as this is also the passing requirement of the Rules of the Road USCG examination module. These practice exams are here intentionally to build your confidence. Test yourself to find where you need more study of the Rules of the Road. Polish up your knowledge of the materials from there.

You will be able to go back and take any of the exams over again at any time.  We suggest not to let the Rules of the Road lapse in your mind. Constantly go back to those modules and repeat, repeat, repeat! Make your own deck of flashcards as they make an excellent study tool.

When you are comfortable with the Rules of the Road, you may continue moving forward with the course, keeping in mind, you can always go back and review this material.

Remember, to complete the online course and this module, all three quizzes must be passed with at least a 90%.
